Batesville, MS (July 14, 2022) – Cody T. Gaines, age 28, from Batesville lost his life in a fatal car accident on Tuesday, June 14. Sources say the incident happened at around 8:20 a.m.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol and other responders were dispatched to the scene to render aid and investigate the details of the wreck. Authorities said the collision took place on Highway 6 near Lafayette County.
According to reports concerning the details of the crash, it occurred when Gaines was headed east on Highway 6. He was involved in a rear-end collision with Jackie W. Daniels, age 63, from Water Valley, who was also traveling east. She was driving a 2017 Mack Dump Truck.
Gaines was fatally injured in the collision. What caused it to occur remains under police investigation at this time.
A passenger involved in the wreck, identified as Van D. Faulkner, age 57, from Holly Springs, was treated for injuries at the wreck site and released.
The accident remains under local law enforcement investigation.
