Hazlehurst, MS (November 22, 2021) – At 2:43 p.m. on the afternoon of Sunday, November 21, a man was killed in a fatal accident in Hazlehurst.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on MS-28. Police confirmed that 52-year-old Eddie Wingham was traveling east in the area when his vehicle collided with a Chrysler 300 operated by 74-year-old Dessie Mallard. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Wingham was transported to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
