Carthage, MS (November 1, 2021) – At 7:16 a.m. on the morning of Monday, November 1, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on a roadway in Carthage.
According to Leake County deputies, the accident happened on MS-35 around the area of the Freeny Water Association. A passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when it suddenly struck a motorcyclist who was also traveling in the area. The motorcyclist was thrown from their vehicle and the motorcycle was extensively damaged.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the motorcycle, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was injured in the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
