Jackson, MS (November 6, 2021) – Around 12:15 a.m. on Friday morning, November 5, a pedestrian was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Jackson.
According to Jackson Police, the accident happened on I-55 around the area of Woodrow Wilson Avenue. A white male, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the area when he started to cross the highway. He was struck by one vehicle and then several others in succession. The vehicles allegedly pulled over at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not believed that anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the collision, a portion of the highway was blocked in the area until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
