Ellisville, MS (November 8, 2021) – Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, November 6, a three-vehicle accident happened in Ellisville.
According to Jones County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-59 around the area of exit 78. Police confirmed that a disabled vehicle sitting in the roadway allegedly led to the crash. A Nissan Sentra being operated by 19-year-old Adonijah Gaddis struck a Ford Escape being operated by 24-year-old April Leonard. This caused it to crash into a Ford Fusion driven by 19-year-old Robert Henry Jr.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Gaddis and Leonard were both seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.
Police believed distracted driving to be the cause of the accident, though they did not say if any charges are to be expected.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
