Carthage, MS (November 11, 2021) – At 5:26 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, November 11, a two-vehicle collision occurred on a major roadway in Carthage.
According to Leake County deputies, the accident happened on MS-35 around the area of Big Springs Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the collision. One person, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. The injured victim was taken to the hospital, though their condition is not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
