Macon, MS (November 11, 2021) – Around 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, November 11, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Macon.
According to Macon Police, the accident happened on MS-45 around the area of Trailboss Trailers. Police confirmed that an adult pedestrian identified as Tommie Shelton was walking in the area. He was suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer that was headed southbound in the lane. The driver of the truck did not remain at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for several hours as police worked to clear the scene after the pedestrian was found.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
