Gulfport, MS (December 3, 2021) – At 5:42 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, December 2, an apartment fire occurred in Gulfport.
According to police, the fire happened in a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Fire crews received calls that a triplex caught on fire and quickly became engulfed in flames. Crews attempted to get inside the home but were met with extensive smoke. When they made their way inside the home, they found a man who was unable to get out on his own.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the incident. The man, who has not yet been formally identified, was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the incident, the area was blocked for a period of time. Fire crews were able to get the fire fully under control within the hour.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
