West Point, MS (December 8, 2021) – Around 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 7, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in West Point.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on MS-45 Alternate. A tractor-trailer was headed north on the highway in the area when it suddenly collided with the back of a Nissan Altima. Police have not yet confirmed why the truck collided with the Nissan. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The driver of the Nissan, identified as a 24-year-old Tyshon Spencer, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
