Oxford, MS (December 31, 2021) – The Oxford Police Department reported that a car crash took place in the afternoon hours of Thursday, December 30.
Officials responded to the accident around 3:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes at 2525 Jackson Avenue in front of Dipstix. Two or more vehicles were allegedly traveling in the area when one lost control, crashing into another. The vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene as a result.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were hospitalized, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes until police were able to fully clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing. Police will update as their investigation continues.
