Laurel, MS (December 31, 2021) – At 9:09 a.m. on Friday morning, December 31, a car accident with injuries occurred in Laurel.
Wayne County officials confirmed that the accident happened on Pleasant Grove Road near the Wayne County line. A driver was traveling in their sedan when they suddenly lost control of their vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. The vehicle then slammed into a barbed-wire fence, sustaining severe damages as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. One person, identified only as an adult passenger in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries. They were taken to the hospital by ambulance for their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
