Columbus, MS (January 9, 2021) – On Sunday, January 9, an injury accident occurred on a major highway in Columbus.
According to officials, the accident happened in the afternoon hours on MS-82 around the area of 18th Avenue. Several vehicles were traveling in the eastbound lanes of traffic when one or more lost control, causing the vehicles to forcefully collide with each other. The involved vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Numerous local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so that traffic could resume as normal.
