Starkville, MS (January 9, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place at a Starkville intersection on Sunday, January 9.
Starkville Police confirmed that the accident happened at the intersection of MS-12 and Avenue of Patriots Street in the late afternoon hours. According to officials, the accident happened when two vehicles allegedly entered the intersection at the same time. This caused the vehicles to forcefully collide with one another. The involved vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the collision. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
