Columbus, MS (January 10, 2022) – Two people were seriously injured in a car accident with injuries on a major roadway in Columbus.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 11a.m. on Sunday morning, January 9. Two people were headed westbound on US-82 when the driver lost control due to hitting a large patch of water. The vehicle then ran off the side of the road and sustained heavy damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people were seriously injured and taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The parties were identified as driver 33-year-old Jacoby Cornell, and passenger 31-year-old James Eskridge.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
