Oxford, MS (January 22, 2022) – Oxford Police confirmed that a car crash took place on a major roadway in front of a funeral home on Saturday afternoon, January 22.
According to officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes at 294 Highway 7 in front of the Serenity Funeral Home. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing the vehicles to collide with each other due to unknown reasons. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged as a result.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were seriously injured as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was completely blocked in the area for a period of time. Police urged those in the area to use an alternate route until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
