Oxford, MS (February 11, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place on a roadway in Oxford on Friday afternoon, February 11.
Oxford Police confirmed that the accident happened around 4 p.m. at 1312 University Avenue in front of the Origin Bank. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing them to collide forcefully with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several victims sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the road was blocked in the area. Police worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume as normal.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
