Gulfport, MS (February 16, 2022) – On Wednesday morning, February 16, a deputy and another individual were injured in a Gulfport car accident.
Harrison County officials confirmed that the crash happened around 9:19 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-10 around the area of mile marker 31. A deputy was stopped alongside the roadway when a Nissan driver lost control of their vehicle. Their vehicle slammed into the cruiser and then caught on fire. The vehicles sustained severe damages due to the accident.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The deputy and the driver of the Nissan were injured as a result of the collision. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment but are expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a short period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
