Hattiesburg, MS (February 24, 2022) – On Wednesday afternoon, February 23, a teen was killed in a fatal car accident in Hattiesburg.
According to officials, the accident happened on US-49 and involved two vehicles. A 44-year-old man from Vancleave was driving a Chevrolet Silverado in the area when their vehicle struck a Mercedes-Benz being operated by a 17-year-old senior at Lamar County School. The vehicles involved in the accident were severely damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The teen was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
