Starkville, MS (March 2, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal truck accident that took place in Starkville on Tuesday morning, March 1.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of US-82. For reasons that are not entirely known, a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler collided with one another near the Center Grove community. The passenger vehicle was extensively damaged as a result.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Trinity Burton, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the accident.
Due to the severity of the collision, all eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update as more information becomes available.
