Oxford, MS (March 15, 2022) – At 6:55 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, March 15, injuries were reported in a car accident in Oxford.
According to Oxford Police, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of US-278. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing the vehicles to forcefully collide with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their identities and conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues at this time.
