Oxford, MS (March 16, 2022) – At 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, March 16, a car crash with injuries took place on a roadway in Oxford.
According to Oxford Police, the accident happened in the afternoon in the westbound lanes of Jackson Avenue around the area of Newks Express Café. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing them to forcefully collide with each other. The involved vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed away from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the collision. The injured parties, who have not yet been identified, were hospitalized. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the accident, several westbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. This led to delays until police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
