Coldwater, MS (March 19, 2022) – On Thursday morning, one person was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a highway in Coldwater.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 17. Police confirmed that 22-year-old Cody Carpenter was traveling north in his vehicle when it suddenly collided with a vehicle that was traveling southbound and operated by 36-year-old Rachel Logan. Police are not sure about the exact circumstances leading up to the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Carpenter was severely injured and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Logan was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
