Waynesboro, MS (April 11, 2022) – One person was killed in a car accident that took place on a highway in Waynesboro on Monday evening, April 11.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on US-84. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when one of the vehicles slammed into the other due to unknown reasons. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result of the collision and had to be towed from the scene.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was hurt as a result of the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume as normal.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
