Crystal Springs, MS (April 21, 2022) – A teen was killed in a fatal rollover crash that took place at a Crystal Springs intersection on Saturday, April 18.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of MS-27 and Mitchell Road. A 2020 Chevrolet Camaro was headed north on the roadway when the driver suddenly lost control due to unknown reasons. The vehicle overturned off the side of the road, which led to severe damage.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Three occupants were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Mare Rogers, was seriously injured. One of her passengers, identified as 26-year-old Brandon Runyan, was also injured. Both parties were rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The third occupant, identified as a 17-year-old male, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the collision.
