Oxford, MS (April 23, 2022) – Around 2:50 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, April 22, a car accident with injuries took place in Oxford.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the accident happened at 1111 Jackson Avenue in front of the Jackson Avenue Center. Several vehicles were traveling in the westbound lanes of traffic when one or more lost control, causing the vehicles to collide with each other. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the accident. The injured parties were hospitalized, though their conditions are not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
