Vicksburg, MS (April 28, 2022) – Around 8:50 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, April 28, one person was seriously injured in a car accident that took place at a Vicksburg intersection.
According to Vicksburg Police, the accident happened at the intersection of US-61 and Dana Road. Two vehicles, one of which was identified as a Chevrolet Tracker, were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time. This caused the vehicles to forcefully collide with one another. The Chevy was badly damaged and was loaded onto a tow truck trailer.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, sustained serious injuries in the accident. They were rushed to a local hospital for treatment, though their condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police urged those in the area to use caution.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
