Crystal Springs, MS (May 4, 2022) – Police have now identified the victim who lost his life in a fatal motorcycle crash in Crystal Springs on Tuesday, May 3.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident took place at 11:13 a.m. at the intersection of MS-27 and Thornton Drive. A homeowner allegedly called police when they witnessed the accident between a BMW motorcycle and an International tractor-trailer. Police said that 69-year-old David Paxton from Florida was traveling north on MS-27 when his motorcycle was struck by a truck driven by 61-year-old Daniel Dee. The motorcycle sustained severe damages as a result of the collision.
Several local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene, including fire crews and paramedics. Paxton was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries caused by the accident. Dee was allegedly not hurt in the collision but remained on the scene to cooperate with the police.
Police quickly closed down the road in the area of the intersection. The scene was cleared within several hours.
Mississippi Highway Patrol officials continue their investigation into the collision.
