Jackson, MS (May 11, 2022) – On Monday night, May 9, one person was injured in a pedestrian accident that took place on a major Jackson highway.
According to the Jackson Police Department, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-55 around the area of McDowell Road. A pedestrian was walking in the area and attempting to cross the street when they were suddenly struck by two vehicles. Both of the drivers pulled over and remained at the scene to cooperate with police. One of the vehicles sustained immense front-end damage.
Several local responders, including paramedics, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was the only person injured in the accident. Their condition is not yet known but the party was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Due to the severity of the collision, a portion of the roadway was blocked for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene and bring traffic under control.
Jackson Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
