Fayette, MS (May 19, 2022) – A total of three people were hurt in a charter bus accident that took place on a major highway in Fayette on Wednesday afternoon, May 18.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 5:45 p.m. on MS-13 in Fayette County. Two vehicles became involved in a collision due to reasons that are not yet known, one of which was a charter bus that was carrying the Murray State University Softball team headed to a tournament in Tuscaloosa. It is not known what led up to the accident but both vehicles sustained severe damage.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Three passengers on the bus received injuries and were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment. It is not known if the parties were players or coaches.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as a result of the collision.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
