Oxford, MS (May 21, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a serious car accident that took place in front of a restaurant in Oxford on Friday evening, May 20.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the accident happened around 6:10 p.m. at 2624 Jackson Avenue. Police confirmed that several vehicles were traveling in the westbound lanes of traffic near a local Popeye’s when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not fully known. The involved vehicles sustained severe damages and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics and several other responders, including Oxford fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
