Carthage, MS (May 23, 2022) – Authorities reported that one person was injured in a two-vehicle collision that took place at a Carthage intersection On Monday afternoon, May 23.
Carthage Police reported that the accident happened around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of MS-35 and West Main Street. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with one another. The vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene by tow trucks.
Fire crews, paramedics, and other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries caused by the accident. Their condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
