Yazoo City, MS (May 31, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal head-on collision that took place on a major highway in Yazoo City on Tuesday evening, May 31.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on MS-16. Police confirmed that 19-year-old Haley McCrory was traveling west in her Ford F-150 while 57-year-old Tracy Anderson was traveling east in a Honda Accord. Both vehicles collided head-on in the area due to reasons that are not yet known.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. Anderson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. McCrory was transported to Merit Health by ambulance with unknown injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal in the area.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the accident.
