Canton, MS (July 21, 2022) – A man from Canton lost his life when he was hit by a car on Wednesday, July 20. The fatal wreck happened at the intersection of MS-16 and Miggins Road at approximately 4:45 a.m.
Reports show that Leroy Barnes, 50, of Carthage was traveling west on MS-16 in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. He reportedly struck a man walking along the road.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on-site. He was later identified as Javaris Mack, 28. At this time, no further information has been reported.
Police are currently investigating the details of the wreck.
