Mississippi Car Wrecks
Each year throughout the United States, approximately 800 individuals lose their lives in traffic accidents involving trains. This is equal to two deadly train accidents per day.
The majority of the train collisions that occur in the US happen at railroad crossings. A car can get stuck on the tracks by stalling or gridlocked traffic. Sometimes, when railroad crossings are not marked with safety bars and/or flashing lights, vehicles can collide with oncoming trains in the dark.
Many types of train collisions take place in the United States. Most end in serious injuries or even death for those involved. Some of the most commonly seen include:
- Train derailments
- Railroad crossing collisions
- Trains crashing into cars
- Trains crashing into trains
- Trains colliding with cyclists or pedestrians
Amtrak drivers and conductors, mechanics, railway companies, and railway maintenance workers fall into the category of common carriers, meaning they have a duty to the public to ensure that their trains are danger-free and secure.
When a railroad operator, conductor, or worker breaches this duty of care, and that breach is proven to be a direct cause of your injuries, you most likely are eligible to file a personal injury claim for compensation.
