Flowood, MS (August 15, 2022) – A fatal motorcycle collision took one life on the evening of August 14. At approximately 6:30 p.m., responders were sent to the scene of the collision on US-80.
Reports show that the crash happened on US-80 near Bierdeman Road when a motorcycle was involved in a high-speed pursuit. The chase started in the Pearl area and concluded in Flowood.
Officials reported that the driver, Ryan Irwin, age 29, fled from police in a 2009 Silver Infiniti headed west on the highway. He entered an Acadamy parking lot at the corner of Flowood Drive and Airport Road before he sped back onto the roadway.
Shortly afterward, Irwin struck a motorcyclist and took his life. The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Steven Pearson, 47. Irwin was taken into police custody and is currently facing numerous charges.
Police continue to investigate the details of the collision.
