Car Accidents in Mississippi
Each year, countless people in the state of Mississippi are left with injuries following motor vehicle accidents. There are many different types of car accidents that can occur in Mississippi. Some of the most common include:
- Rear-end collisions: These often occur when one driver is following another too closely and does not have time to brake when the lead car slows or stops.
- Side-impact collisions: Also known as T-bone accidents, these typically happen at intersections when one car collides with the side of another.
- Head-on collisions: These are very dangerous accidents that can occur when two cars collide head-on, or when one car strikes another from the rear and pushes it into oncoming traffic.
- Rollover accidents: These often occur when a car goes off the road and rolls over, especially if it hits a ditch or embankment.
Any type of collision has the potential to cause serious injuries to those involved. Unfortunately, there are many cases where people are harmed in accidents that are caused by negligent drivers.
Speeding is one of the leading causes of car accidents because it increases the chance of losing control of your vehicle and increases the severity of a collision if one does occur.
Distracted driving is another leading cause of car accidents. This can include anything from texting to eating to changing the radio station. Taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds can put you and others at risk.
Driving under the influence is never a good idea. Alcohol and drugs impair your ability to drive safely and make good decisions behind the wheel.
