Madison County, MS (October 28, 2022) – A traffic accident happened on an interstate in Madison County that tied up traffic for an extended period of time on the early morning of October 25.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., two tractor-trailers crashed on I-55 between the Sowell Road and Nissan Parkway exits. One was identified as a FedEx truck that was traveling to Baton Rouge with packages.
The wreck occurred in the southbound lanes of the interstate and held up traffic for approximately four hours while hazmat crews worked at the scene along with other first responders.
One person was transported from the scene with injuries, according to Gluckstadt fire officials. The involved individuals have not been identified at this time, however. One other individual was evaluated on-site by paramedics.
Authorities continue to investigate the details of the accident.
