Ellisville, MS (March 3, 2023) – A car crash turned fatal on a roadway in Jones County on Wednesday afternoon, March 1. Information from the Mississippi Highway Patrol shows three people were killed in an accident on MS-588.
According to reports, a 2003 Ford F-150 operated by Christopher Dykes, 38, was headed east on the highway when it crashed with a 2007 Freightliner driven by a 61-year-old Soso resident headed west.
MHP said Christopher Dykes was fatally injured in the accident and pronounced deceased on-site. Two passengers present in the 2003 Ford F-150 were also fatally injured.
The passengers were identified as Tristan Dykes, 18, and Caden McCardle, 20. Another passenger in the Ford, Andrew Harvey, 20, was airlifted from the scene to a local hospital.
Two occupants of the service truck declined medical care at the scene. Southwest and South Jones fire departments, along with Boggy volunteers and Ellisville Fire Department, responded to the scene.
Traffic was backed up in the area for over four hours while emergency crews worked at the scene. MHP continues to investigate the details of the accident.
