Lauderdale County, MS (June 6, 2023) – A fiery car crash occurred on the morning of Wednesday, May 31, in Lauderdale County. The incident was reported near the split of I-20/59 and milepost 131 in the eastbound lanes.
The crash involved a log truck and two other 18-wheelers, as well as a passenger vehicle. Four people lost their lives in the collision, sources said.
The victims have not been identified at this time. The two 18-wheelers initially wrecked and stopped traffic. The log truck reportedly struck a passenger vehicle at full speed shortly after. Two individuals inside the sedan and the driver of the log truck were pronounced deceased at the scene. One person present in the log truck lost their life a short time later at the hospital.
The northbound ram to I-20 from I-59 was closed for some time. Authorities in Lauderdale County continue to investigate the details of the crash.
