Greenwood Springs, MS (June 27, 2023) – One woman was killed, and another was injured in a head-on collision on Friday afternoon, per officers from the Greenwood Springs Police Department.
Hatley Detroit Road was the location of the fatal collision, which took place on Friday at 12:45 p.m., as stated by Coroner Alan Gurley.
Police say one of the drivers, Brandy Carpenter, was traveling east when a vehicle driving from the other direction slammed into her car.
Despite life-saving measures attempted at the scene, EMTs pronounced Carpenter dead at the site of the wreck.
The other driver was transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is still underway in the interim.
