Jones County, MS (June 28, 2023) – According to information provided by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a fatal car accident occurred on the evening of June 27 in Jones County. Officers responded to the scene of the incident at around 5:40 p.m.
According to reports from local officials, Forrest Smith, a resident of Orlando, Florida, was headed south on Highway 29 in his 2000 Ford Mustang when he was involved in a crash with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Justin Morris, 43, of Laurel, MS. Morris was headed north on the highway at the time.
Forrest Smith lost his life in the collision, sources said.
The roadway was blocked for an extended period while paramedics and police worked in the area, causing significant traffic delays. Authorities in Jones County continue to investigate the details of the accident.
