Copiah County, MS (July 1, 2023) – A teenager from Memphis lost their life in a car accident in Copiah County early Saturday morning. Information from the Mississippi Highway Patrol shows the incident occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on July 1.
Reports from authorities show the incident took place on I-55 when a 2019 Ford box truck, a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer, and a 2016 Chevrolet Impala collided on the interstate. The MHP stated that a passenger present in the Ford was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The passenger was identified as a 16-year-old male from Memphis, Tennessee, who was fatally injured in the accident. He lost his life at the crash scene, according to reports.
The driver of the Ford was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. Police say no one else suffered any injuries in the collision.
