Hattiesburg, MS (July 23, 2023) – A teenage boy lost his life in a workplace accident in Hattiesburg. The incident occurred at the Mar-Jac Poultry plant and is the third worker death at the plant since December 2020.
The boy, age 16, was part of a sanitation crew who was cleaning the machinery when he became trapped in equipment involving a conveyor belt. The teenager lost his life at the scene, authorities reported.
The company stated that the child “should not have been hired,” and is undergoing a thorough audit to prevent this kind of devastating error from occurring again.
