Panola County, MS (September 4, 2023) – A retired police trooper identified as Michael Griffin lost his life in a traffic accident in Panola County on Monday, September 4. Reports show he was involved in a collision that occurred at around 11:00 a.m. when he stopped to check on the driver of another crash.
Two vehicles, including 2016 Ford F-150, crashed when headed west on Highway 6, sources said. The Ford was operated by a 21-year-old resident of Southaven, authorities said.
When Griffin, age 62, stopped to check on the driver of the other vehicle, it rolled over on top of him, taking his life. Griffin was pronounced deceased on-site by responding medical professionals. Mississippi police officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Information concerning the health conditions of the individuals involved in the other accident was not reported.
