Hernando, MS (October 11, 2023) – A man identified as 40-year-old Milan Alilovic lost his life in a traffic accident on the afternoon of October 11. Another man has been arrested after the collision occurred on an interstate in Hernando County. Police say the crash took place at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, when 37-year-old Matthew George Nemacheck, of Palmyra, was being chased by authorities.
Police from Crittenden County were chasing Nemacheck down Interstate 55 when he crossed over the center line and struck a semi-truck, according to reports. The collision closed that portion of the interstate for hours after the vehicle Nemacheck was driving burst into flames.
The semi truck’s cab was torn entirely off due to the impact, and the trailer was totally destroyed. The driver, identified as Milan Alilovic, lost his life in the collision. He was pronounced deceased on-site by responding paramedics.
Police continue to investigate the details of the collision.
