Amory, MS (January 17, 2022) – A teen was killed in a fatal accident that happened on a roadway in Amory on Sunday afternoon, January 16.
According to Monroe County officials, the accident happened on Hatley Road around the area of Cotton Gin Port Road at 1:41 p.m. A passenger vehicle and a westbound SUV were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. Both vehicles sustained heavy damages as a result of the collision.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A passenger in the passenger vehicle, identified as a 16-year-old male teen, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anybody else was hurt in the collision.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
