Belhaven, MS (October 29, 2022) – A serious car accident happened in Belhaven on the afternoon of October 29. Emergency crews were sent to the scene at around 3:25 p.m. to render aid.
Reports indicate the wreck occurred on Interstate 55 near Woodrow Wilson Avenue. An unknown number of vehicles crashed in the area, resulting in injuries for those involved.
All lanes of the interstate were blocked while responders worked in the area. Traffic was backed up for an extended period of time while emergency crews worked to secure the scene.
Police asked local drivers to use alternate traffic routes for the time being. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the accident.
