Brandon, MS (October 16, 2022) – A woman lost her life in a fatal DUI crash reported in Brandon. She was identified as 61-year-old Beverly Luckett, of Canton.
The incident happened on Old Highway 47 near Brandon. Information from police states that Luckett lost her life in a fatal head-on crash with a pickup truck late on Friday, October 14. Police stated that the driver of the pickup, age 17, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Reports concerning the accident state that the teenage pickup driver smelled of alcohol at the crash site, as well as the passenger present in the truck at the time. The teen blew a .131 on a breathalyzer test.
Deputies report that any alcohol detected in the system of a juvenile above .02 is considered a DUI. Police in Brandon continue to investigate the details of the accident.
