Byhalia, MS (January 10, 2022) – Two people were reportedly injured in a tractor-trailer crash on a major highway in Byhalia on Friday night, January 7.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the collision happened in the eastbound lanes of I-22. A driver identified as 20-year-old Rooker Childers was traveling east in a passenger vehicle when the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer was being driven by 25-year-old Jonathan Bell. Both vehicles sustained damages as a result.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. Childers sustained more severe injuries and was hospitalized for treatment. Bell was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
