Carlisle, PA (May 18, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal truck accident that took place on a highway in Carlisle on Wednesday afternoon, May 18.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 12:20 p.m. on MS-18 around the area of Valley of the Moon Road. Police confirmed that 28-year-old Lakenya Shorter was traveling south in the area when her vehicle was struck by a Windstar Log truck. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 61-year-old Jackie McGee.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Shorter was severely injured and pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released but the Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident at this time.
